Getting the most out of short hair

admin on December 12th, 2010

Girls are ditching the hair extensions or their naturally long locks and going short. Super short. It’s the new daring makeover taking the female population by storm and there is one celebrity that is showing us how it’s all done.

All hail Dannii Minogue – queen of the ever-changing short crop. Week after week she is appearing on our screens as a judge on the biggest reality show going, the X-Factor.

Now in her third season Dannii has taken the style stakes right out of Cheryl Cole’s corner and week after week she is seen in jaw droppingly stunning dresses that Cheryl doesn’t seem able to match.

What is really grabbing our attention though, is her hair – whoever knew a short crop like hers could be fashioned into so many styles, it is literally completely different every week and we want to steal her (many) looks!

Her face is always glowing and natural so her hair does all the talking, from swept back high quiffs to cute curls that frame her face or a sharp bob with a side fringe, there seems to be no style that her team haven’t tackled.

One of our favourites was the cute curly bob teamed with a stunning Grecian style dress. To get this look just go for simple make up and use ghd IV mini stylers to create tight curls, start from the bottom, create sections and curl until the whole head is covered. Use a mirror to tweak those hard to reach curls at the back of your head. Finish with a large patent headband that takes the curls away from the face and spray with a light hairspray to keep those curls in place.

If you’re looking for a quick up do than follow Dannii’s lead and roughly straighten your hair with a good pair of hair straighteners and pin it to the back of your head. This can be as neat or as messy as you like, the feature is your quiff. Blow dry the front of your hair upward and then straighten with ghd IV stylers, back comb lightly and pin into a quiff, the bigger the better.

The key is to be imaginative. Don’t get stuck in a style rut with short hair, you can find something different to do with it every day of the week.
